It’s still a long journey on a rough road. After the two decades of civil war fought between north and south Sudan, comprehensive peace agreement came as a blessing which latter brought a little bit of peace and tranquility in the country. Six years of interim government in south Sudan was finally sealed off with the Independence of south last year. Tears of joy were rolling down on everyone’s cheek on that day when the flag of the world’s newest nation was hoisted. It is about a month now since I heard annoying rhetoric from the President of Sudan when #South Sudan took over oil field of Panthou known as #Heglig. The statement has been haunting me all these times until I thought of some instances were people used offensive words which latter boomeranged.   Being a very good verbal attacker who does not think twice before uttering out words; Omar al Bashir made an exasperating statement by calling people of south Sudan as insects that needed to be removed. Was Muammar Gaddafi worst than Omar al Bashir? The late Muammar Gaddafi, the former Libyan leader and the President of the Sudan, Omar al Bashir have no different at all. Only that the former was a brave man who did not tolerate western intervention in Africa but the latter is a coward who just use verbal attack on the West but can not do anything. Unlike Bashir, Gaddafi was a nationalists; he was believed to have played a crucial role in anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa in early 1980s. His image as a revolutionary inspired many South Africans to fight for their liberation, and he was largely responsible for funding and arming the Anti-Apartheid Movement as it fought the Apartheid regime and white minority rule. Smoking has proved to be great nuisance to the general public By: Abraham Daljang Maker Cigarette smoke contains about 4,000 different chemicals which can damage the cells and systems of the human body. These include at least 80 chemicals that can cause cardiovascular diseases. Every time a smoker inhales, these chemicals are drawn into the body where they interfere with cell function and cause problems ranging from cell death to genetic changes which lead to cancer. This is why tobacco smoking is a known or probable cause of approximately 25 diseases. According to the world health organization WHO figures, smoking is responsible for approximately five million deaths worldwide every year. However it also contributes to, or aggravates many other diseases and may play a part in many more deaths. The symbolic significance of triumphal entry of Jesus to Jerusalem By: Abraham Daljang Maker It is a palms Sunday today. The event started yesterday with high demand of palm leaves by Christians across the country.  Cars, motorcycles and bicycles are having palms branches on them. I am not quite sure if trains, ships, boats, canoes and even aeroplans also have branches of palms on them too. Well it’s the day when Jesus Christ, the Savior triumphantly entered Jerusalem, the humble king who rode on a donkey’s colt was welcome with jubilant and a big crow shouted on top of their voices,   “Hosanna to the son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord!” “Hosanna in the highest!”   ( Matthew 21:1-11)   The shouting was so unbearable and chief priests asked Jesus to silence his followers but the wise king replied that, “even if I tell them to keep quiet stones and trees will also shout.”  That means his name is great and above any o...
